Philadelphia

We went on a day trip to Philadelphia last Saturday. Shannon used to have a client there and would go frequently but he never got a chance to explore. I had never been and we are always up for a good day trip! It was a fun day - although we had some rainy weather. (P.S. Never by an umbrella from the visitors center. It is such a rip off. We had to buy one and the only one they had was $12. As soon as we opened it - it bent -so we had to exchange it and the second one bent too. Finally they just gave us a refund!)

The Liberty Bell

Daniel got this hat at the gift shop. He thinks it's a pirate hat.

The Betsy Ross House

This lady dressed up was supposed to be Betsy Ross.

Nora and me with Independence Hall in the background.

Independence Hall: Where the Declaration of Independence was adopted and the Constitution of the United States was debated, drafted and signed.

We had to stop at this cute little walk up window called Tartes -were you can buy yummy desserts.

Elfreth's Alley: Opened in 1702 this one of the oldest continuously inhabited residential streets in America.

Benjamin Franklin's grave

United States Mint

This was at the visitors center.

We went to the City Tavern for lunch. They serve 18th Century style food. The Tavern was built back in 1773 and was supposedly one of the most elegant building in the city at the time.

Nora has the cutest little sad face ever!

Daniel walking toward Carpenter's Hall: Owned by the oldest trade guild in America - the Carpenters' Company of Philadelphia. The First Continental Congress met there and it formerly housed Benjamin Franklin's Library Company.

We went in June, and it was the absolute best. Anna and Ellie asked for weeks when we could go back. Maybe we will next summer...

PS... I want to steal your little Nora. She is delicious!

Ooh, you make me want to go! It's been too long. I need to rent National Treasure and then take a trip with my family.
