L.A.

We met up with my sister Kathryn and her family in LA to head to Disney. We were able to stop at the LA temple on our way through and take some pictures.

She's the only one that would cooperate for a picture. :)

California #2

One day we all went to the Mormon Battalion Historic Site as well as Old Town San Diego. I was really impressed with the battalion site. Very kid friendly. The kids thought it was great.

California

We visited Shannon's brothers family in San Diego in March. It was the perfect time to go. Great to get away from dreary March Connecticut and it had been too long since we'd seen them! When we left CT it was dark, it was cold, and it was wet. When we stepped off the plane in San Deigo we literally thought we were in paradise. We spent the whole trip trying to figure out how we could move there. :)

We went to a Birch aquarium at Scripps.

Vermont

We took a weekend trip to Vermont this past February. We had never been before and it turned out to be really great. We visited the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream factory (a big hit), enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, looked for Champ in lake Champlain, and visited the Joseph Smith birthplace memorial in Sharon, VT on the way home.

 Lucy LOVES ice cream

We went to a cider mill to get some cider donuts and fresh maple syrup.

Cute towns

I had to go see the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe...as in the real Von Trapps. We didn't stay there but I saw it in a magazine and it looked so cute that I wanted to see it in person. Definitely looks great.

At the Trapp family lodge: Horses getting ready for a sleigh ride.

 Watched some glass blowing.

Looked for "Champ" in lake Champlain. No champ. Pretty lake.

Sharon, VT at the Joseph Smith birthplace memorial.

The story about how they got the monument up there so long ago is pretty amazing.
