The Great Jack-O-Lantern Blaze

Friday night we went to The Great Jack-O-Lantern Blaze at the Van Cortland Manor. Allison in my ward told me about it. They display over three thousand hand-carved, illuminated jack o'lanterns complete with spooky music and sound effects. It was cold and rainy - but we went anyway and had a great time. Daniel was so excited to go see the "punkins." All the way there in the car Daniel kept saying "Where are you punkins?" It was past his bedtime but he was WIDE awake.

Silliness

These are just some pictures from the past couple of weeks of silly things I found Daniel doing. He always makes me laugh!

Measuring something...

Daniel made a pile of all of the pillows he could find in the house and then had a blast jumping off of the couch into the pile. Finally he settled down and just lay there reading his books.

Daniel and his friend Jackson.

I don't know where he got this idea! But he was so proud of himself!

He snaged this loaf of bread off of the counter and picked the entire center out and ate it.

New Nephew

Jenny and her husband Ben welcomed the arrival of their fourth baby on Saturday. They named him Seth Eiji Mizukawa. Thank you Ben - for sending pictures so soon! He is so adorable. Seth was born at 11:18 pm on October 20, and measured 8 lbs 12 oz and 21 1/2inches long. I can't wait to see him in person!

Trunk Or Treat

Our ward did a Trunk Or Treat yesterday and it was so much fun! We decorated our car like a monster and Daniel wore his lion costume. They had booths for bobbing for apples, a pumpkin bean bag toss, eating donuts off a string, crafts, a fishing booth, a costume parade etc. Although, Daniel enjoyed himself even more once the Trunk Or Treat began and he figured out that people would give him candy!

The car decorated like a monster and our little monster.

Daniel and Mommy: It wasn't until after I bought his lion costume that I realized he could be like Daniel in the lions den. I'm slow.

Daniel and his adorable friend Abi. She was the cutest witch! Shannon said -all we need now is a wardrobe...

Dane: Making his daddy proud in a football uniform.

The lion saying "ROAR": He liked to play in the bushes by the church.

Trick or Treating

He had to stop and eat some of his candy right then! He loved the Smarties and keeps asking me for some more.

Baby Jonah

Shannon's brother Rob and his wife Teneil just had their third boy and we are so happy for them! Jonah Samuel Detling was born on Friday, October 12th, weighing in at 7lbs 8oz and 21 in long. Hopefully we can make it out to CA to visit you guys and see the new baby soon! Daniel is constantly asking to see the picture of "baby Donah" as he calls him.

I Love Fall

We went to Silverman's Farm on Saturday to pick out pumpkins. Daniel had so much fun. There was a lot going on - hay rides, kettle corn, apple dumplings, the pumpkin patch etc. We had a lot of fun. I love fall!

Daniel thinks he has found the perfect pumpkin.

Silverman's Farm

I tried so hard to get him to look at the camera - but there was too much fun stuff to look at!
He's thinking...."I want that one...I've almost got it..."

Daniel and Daddy

Yumm - Daniel couldn't even wait until we sat down to try the apple dumpling with ice cream.

On the way home we ran some errands - these turkeys were roaming outside of one of the stores. They are really gorgeous up close. Their feathers are the coolest colors! Daniel wanted to hold one and kept saying "gobble, gobble."

Time to wind down after a fun but long day.

Just a Few Things

This past Saturday morning we all went and got bagels for breakfast and went to the park. It was beautiful!

Shannon was chasing Daniel around and Daniel kept trying to hide behind this tree.

This is what happens when you leave Daniel unsupervised for a little while...

Fashion Show and Campus

Here are the last of our Utah pictures. I know there have been a lot. But I look at the blog as a way of journaling/scrap booking - so there are always going to be a lot of pics. Thanks for enduring them.

Daniel looking handsome in his new jeans.

Leah starting off the fashion show: Kat's closet is an awesome place to be... and all of the nieces think so too. Since they were little they have liked to put on "fashion shows" using clothes from her closet. Usually Kat helps them out - but she was occupied with wedding stuff this time - so I got the pleasure of helping them raid Aunt Kat's closet. We always just use hair clips and hair bands to tie the skirts and shirts in the back so they kind of fit them. I love how the shirts become dresses on these little girls!

Leah, Maya, and Kate: Kate has got the pose down!

Shannon, Daniel, Mom and I went to the BYU creamery for lunch one day.

While we were at the creamery we saw Lavelle Edwards! He was just there picking up some saltine crackers. Mom is such a true blue football fan I told her she had to go get her picture with him! Lavelle has such a great smile...who knew? :)

This is a little more of the face we recognize from Lavelle - less smile. He was always known for hardly ever cracking a smile at a game.

Snow!

Yeah for Cafe Rio! Even Daniel couldn't get enough. He was licking his plate!

BYU is tearing down Deseret Towers and building new resident halls. Sniff, Sniff...so we had to go see our freshman dorms (since that's where we met)- before they were reduced to rubble!

Such good memories!

S Hall: I can see my window!

I love these mountains.
