Learning Tai Ji

My dad was in Utah for a few days with Tang Cai (a family friend and my dad's business partner in China). One night Tang Cai tried to teach Kat and me how to do Tai Ji. It was hilarious - but really fun. In Tang Cai's village in China he said people will go outside really early in the morning and do Tai Ji in the streets. It took Kat and me forever just to learn the first out of four sets. I was especially uncoordinated but Kat seemed to get the hang of it faster.

Kat and Me ready to get started: We didn't get to use the fans right away. He must not have had too much confidence in us.

Tang Cai helping us through the steps.

Kat and her tiny fan:
He only had one fan so Kat used a little fan she got in China a few years ago. Way cooler with the bigger fan. We pretty much laughed the whole way through and Tang Cai kept laughing at us too. I can't blame him.

So funny.

Kat and I had a hard time opening and closing the fans at the right time. It got a little complicated for us. I don't think I'll be going out on my street early in the morning to practice any time soon.
